An uncommon organization that went
wherever it was needed in North and South Korea in 1950-53

The 58th Engineers was the only US Army bridge building organization awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for building vital float bridges and operating critical ferries all over North and South Korea. Members of the 58th were killed and wounded in action as the result of enemy mortars, enemy mines, and accidental drowning. Contact information for the organization can be found on the Reference Desk of the Korean War Educator.  The members of the 58th Engineers are always attempting to find members or information and photos about the unit's Korean War experiences.

Courtesy of Bill Redstreake of Pennsylvania, pages from the newsletter of the 58th Engineer Float Bridge Company and its predecessor, the 58th Engineer Treadway Bridge Company, are posted on this page in PDF form. The newsletter is Memories of the 58th.
